2011 Titles & Descriptions

Conference Schedule.

This is the Annual Listing of Detailed Workshop Descriptions (click on each day to see the list of programs – draft, under constant revision).

2011 Workshop Details Being Confirmed Daily (August/10)

Those who attend the Conference will know that we strive to post as detailed workshop information as we can get from the 45+ presenters. For the 2011 event, you will see a lot of info at the Workshop Descriptions page. By mid-January, every workshop will have a basic description to allow you to select from one or another program at the actual Conference. To those who have attended this Conference, you will know that every 1-hour time-bite is precious because you run into people you only see once per year.  So this workshop info will help you properly budget your time at Guelph.

The Thursday-Friday seminars are registration-specific and individually priced, thus you must attend the ones for which you have paid/registered.  However, all of the Saturday Keynote, 15 Saturday workshops and 8 Sunday workshops are “elective,” meaning that you can pay for the whole day and move freely to any other workshop if the one you have selected does not meet your needs.  This program is so flexible that some guests only pay for the Keynote then spend the next 2 days networking with friends and vendors.

2011 workshop proposals: CLOSED (see previous header and info) but 2012 proposals being accepted.

Past Proceedings

The “PROCEEDINGS” is the elaborate, 80-page printed booklet which is handed out as a registration benefit to every paid attendée at the Conference.  As a courtesy to all, we make available the PDF files of this booklet, for several of the last 10 years’ Guelph Organic Conferences.  We hope you enjoy these documents and find the descriptions useful.  When you’ve downloded and read them, be sure to donate the copy to your local library.

2011 WORKSHOP TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS & SCHEDULES (all this data will be on the printed brochure, available November 1, 2010)

Thursday, January 27, 2011

For 2011, this will be the Canadian Organic Growers’ Crop Planning full-day, single registration price seminar, offered for the first time at this Conference.

Friday, January 28, 2011

There will be 4 x 3-hour extended seminars, running in 2 concurrent streams.  In other words, you pick one of the morning seminars (9.00 AM) and one of the afternoon seminars (1.15 PM) or bring a friend and take in all of them.

Friday Morning – pick either:

**Successful Agriculture (Equipment) in the ‘training stream’

or.. **Agro-Ecological Experiences Overseas (international program)

Friday Afternoon – pick either:

**Successful Agriculture (Finances) in the ‘training stream’

or.. **Organic Branding, Marketing, Trade & Equivalency (markets)

Late afternoon, plan to be a guest at the “Meet The Presenters Organic Dinner.’

Then, early evening, plan to be in the audience for the Guelph Public Forum.

Saturday, January 29, 2011

A morning Keynote (9.00 AM-10.45 AM) is followed by three time-frame streams of five ‘themed’ workshops covering a variety of organic and eco topics. These 5 streams run at 11.00 AM, 1.30 PM and 3.30 PM (a total of 15 workshops).  Keynote is a separate fee distinct from the workshop program fee and you can attend Keynote or the workshops or both.  Or you can attend none of the talks and just browse the Saturday Expo “at no charge” (free, in a public building).

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Two sets of four x 2-hour seminars, one set of these concurrent seminars running in the morning (9.30 AM) and one set of these concurrent seminars running in the afternoon (1.00 PM).  The Sunday program is extremely varied, covering a wide variety of topics.

Included within the Sunday seminar stream, the Ontario Society of BioDynamic Farming & Gardening (one of our Conference Official Sponsor Committee members) runs an always-popular 2-part morning-afternoon program, focused on issues specific to BioDynamics.

For Sunday, as with Saturday, you can attend none of the talks and just browse the Expo “at no charge” (free, in a public building)… and drink our free organic coffee and cider while sampling all the local organic foods.  This is a very generous event and if you feel so moved, please donate $50 at the UC103 Registration Desk.

January is just around the corner so start planning your travel, hotel and social events !
