This webinar training course will cover the Canada Organic Regime (COR) as it pertains to processing operations. The training will prepare participants to verify compliance with the COR Processing Standard. The presenter is experienced organic inspector and IOIA Trainer, Kelly A. Monaghan. This Webinar Training course will focus on topics including the Organic Products Regulations, the General Principles and Management Standards (aka “the Standard” – CAN/CGSB-32.310) and the Canadian Permitted Substances Lists (aka “the PSL” – CAN/CGSB-32.311). Participants will gain skill in navigating the Organic Products Regulations as well as the Standard and PSL, understanding the labeling rules, inspection and certification requirements. It will also cover the issues relating to Canada’s two equivalency arrangements with the USA and the EU. The training includes pre-course reading and an assignment, 6 hours of in-class instruction via distance presenter, and a post webinar exam. This course is geared to prepare those who intend to take further training to become organic inspectors or file reviewers. It is also highly recommended for working inspectors and reviewers who have taken a basic processing inspection course to a standard other than the COR. It is also recommended for organic handlers, processors, consultants, educators, extension, and certification agency staff. This course can be used as a credential to seek work as an entry-level certification file reviewer. Participants who meet minimum requirements will receive an IOIA Certificate of Completion for Canadian Organic Processing Standards Training. Participants who attend but opt out of assignments and the exam, or fail to achieve a passing score, will receive a Letter of Participation to document their participation. Enrollment is limited to 20. This is the first webinar offered in a series (Processing, Livestock, Crop) of COR courses that are under development. The next Processing session will be scheduled in about 3 months. Cost for the webinar is: $350, with a $25 discount for IOIA members.
