About the Conference
About the Guelph Conference :
ORIGINS: This event started with a simple launch – an afternoon seminar dreamed up by a couple of grad students on the Guelph campus in the winter of 1982. After many years run by the student group “Guelph Ag. Alternatives” it then became a larger event when a coalition of non-profits assumed the management in 1992. Since 2003, the Annual Conference & Expo has been organized and promoted by a federal non-profit corporation – ‘Organic Food Conferences Canada’ – managed by representatives of 16 public sector, non-profit organic groups (see Sponsors). The event has now reached its 31st Annual staging – after the January, 2011 event, truly an entire generation had shared its experience. Now, this one is starting up for the next 30 years of growth. We will accomplish this by sowing the seeds of co-operation. The 4-day event includes international speakers, seminars & intro workshops on key topics including, G.E. foods, organic production/certification, changing climates, eco-villages, earth buildings, farmland protection & food security. From producer to consumer, the workshops offer something for everyone. PLUS, there is an Organic Expo/Tasting Fair with 150+ exhibitors (includes 30 food samplers) on Saturday/Sunday, free to the public. This is your opportunity to sample and purchase a wealth of organic, fair trade products. Meet the makers, movers & shakers and discover how to make many positive changes in your life. Go to CONFERENCE AT A GLANCE to see the other related meetings going on in addition to the scheduled workshops. |
