Buying and Selling Organic Field Crops

Homestead Organics is now offering purchase contracts for the 2012 organic grain crop. Consult our buy and sell prices for our offers for old and new crops. These change on a monthly basis, so come back often. Please contact Tom to market your 2012 crop. We are also buying old crop to complete our market requirements for this summer.

After having reach a plateau this summer, market pressure remains very strong. The organic market continues to grow and especially demand for organic animal products: milk, chicken, eggs, pork. Therefore, demand for feed grains is not met by the limited supply. In 2010, some organic farmers went back to conventional production. Today, conversions to organic grain production are rare as conventional production is very profitable. In addition, the summer drought of 2012 in North America will limit supply.
